Born on December 9, 1934, in Cab-ilan, Municipality of Dinagat, he came from a humble family. Through determination, faith, and a strong desire to serve others, he rose to become a respected community leader, public servant, and visionary who transformed dreams into realities.

In 1965, Ruben Edera Ecleo, Sr. founded the Philippine Benevolent Missionaries Association, Incorporated (PBMA, Inc.), an organization founded on the ideals of peace, unity, service, and friendship among people and nations.

Through this mission, he encouraged individuals to work together for the betterment of society and to extend compassion to those in need.

​

At a young age, he was also known for his extraordinary gift of healing, helping thousands of people who sought relief from various illnesses and hardships. His dedication to helping others became one of the defining chapters of his life.
